Please contact this office with any questions you may have in regards to obtaining a copy of your deed by mail or email.


On July 1, 2009,  HB 525 went into effect which created standardized guidelines for documents recorded in this office. Documents that do not conform to the standard guidelines will still be accepted, but a $20.00 penalty fee will be charged. (ORC §317.114) (Table of Fees).

    Lake County Recorder Becky Lynch, elected the county’s 25th Recorder in history (Est. 1840), is charged with carrying out the duties set forth for Ohio Recorders in the Ohio Revised Code (Section 317). 

    The Lake County Recorder keeps and maintains accurate land records that are current, legible and accessible.  Some types of documents recorded in the Recorder’s Office are Deeds, Mortgages, Certificates of Transfer (Affidavits, Easements, Leases), Land Contracts, Zoning Resolutions, Military Service Discharges, Corporate Mergers, Bills of Sale, Liens to name a few. 

    Recorder goals and priorities are to provide our customers with efficient, accurate attention to our services and to continue the high standards expected from Lake County Government Officials.  This website is meant to be a resource for you, in your search for pertinent Recorder Office information.  Thank you, please contact our office by phone, weekdays 8am-4pm at 440-350-2510, email anytime at  The mailing address and directions to our offices are under CONTACT US.  Also, please remember that Deeds or Transfers are not accepted through the mail, as a Deed must be recorded in person, unless it already contains all of the necessary Auditor and Engineer stamps and approvals.
       NOTE: We do not accept deeds or any transfers through the mail.

    Hours of Operation: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday (except holidays).
