2008 Construction and Planning Projects

Cascade Road Bridges – Both of the Cascade Road truss bridges in Concord Township will be rehabilitated this summer. One at a time, the bridges will be disassembled, trucked to a fabrication shop where they will be repaired and reinforced, forwarded to another shop for hot dip galvanizing and returned to Cascade Road to be reassembled. While the trusses are at the shop substructure and drainage improvements will be made. Completion is scheduled for mid November, 2008. A detour is posted. Project Cost: $800,000.
Fay Road Bridge – The Fay Road located between Palmer Road and SR-86 in Concord Township is being replaced. Work is scheduled to be completed by August 1, 2008 with a planned road opening by July 1, 2008. A detour is posted for the traveling public. Project Cost: $500,000
Melridge Road Culvert – The culvert on Melridge Road in Concord Township will be replaced this summer. One lane, two-way traffic will be maintained. As much of the work as possible will be completed while school is out for summer. Work is scheduled to begin in July, 2008. Project Cost: $180,000.
Worrell Road Bridge – The majority of this project was completed in 2007. For safety, the closure of the road is planned for some time during June to place the asphalt surface course and complete the project area restoration.
Melrose Drive Culvert - The Melrose Drive Culvert located in Painesville Township is scheduled for replacement in the Fall of 2008. A 14 day closure with a posted detour is planned. Project Cost: $80,000
Bates Road Culvert – The Bates Road Culvert located just south of Middle Ridge in Madison Township is scheduled for replacement in the Fall of 2008. A 14 day closure with a posted detour is planned. Project Cost: $75,000
Casement Road North - The north end of Casement Road is being relocated to the East to a new intersection with US-20 due to the flood in 2006 eroding the slope between the Grand River and the road. Work will be in cooperation with planned development. Construction is currently planned to begin in the summer of 2008 and be completed in the Fall of 2009.
SR44 Concord Transportation Study (Planning)- Transportation improvements necessary to reduce congestion at SR 44 / 90 Interchange; increase accessibility to and from SR 44 / 90 Interchange; maximize access to the proposed Lake Hospital campus; build upon the findings of the Concord Township Business Corridor Study. Planning Study Cost: $ 170,000.
Vrooman Road Bridge Replacement (Planning) – Frequently flooded and aged bridge requires replacement with a high level structure to meet environmental and FHWA criteria. Preliminary engineering contract is pending ODOT and local approvals. Project Costs: $ 22 M.
