2005 continued to post increasing activity in the area of court services.  With the addition of the 5th court of Common Pleas, the development of an expanded court security program, the daily transport to Cleveland for the United States Marshal Services, the Sexual Predators Registration duties, and the Carry and Concealed Weapons registration program the Sheriff=s Office Court Services division has witnessed a dramatic increase in activity.
        Most notably the daily prisoner transports to Lake County courts reached its high watermark in 2005 with 2,427 inmates transported to court hearings.  Further, the Court Paper Service reached an all time high with 4,878 Papers Processed.
       A total of 4,614 transports were handled in 2005 ( an average of approximately 19 per day ).  This total included 610 trips to prisons throughout Ohio.    Marshal transports to Cleveland logged the transport 750 prisoners, and used 1,113 man hours (average trip 4.6 hours ).  However, this activity returned $25,779 back to the County in reimbursements for services rendered to the Marshal service.
