       The Lake County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division provides regular patrols to the unincorporated areas of Lake County including Concord Township, Leroy Township, Painesville Township and Perry Township.    Patrol Commander Capt. Lonnie Sparkman supervises this division comprised of 34 deputy sheriffs who provide day to day policing over approximately 88 square miles and an average population of approximately 45,000 residents. 

        These dedicated men and women work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year investigating crime, responding to emergencies, pro-actively implementing patrols to protect the citizens of Lake County, providing search and rescue ... serving the public needs in a caring, courteous and professional manner to ensure the highest quality of life for all people.

                                                Patrol Supervision


           Capt. Lonnie Sparkman, is the Patrol Commander, and has served 27 years in field of law enforcement.  A graduate of the FBI National Academy, Lonnie has been been involved in many diverse aspects of policing.  A former member of the Painesville City police Department, Capt. Sparkman joined the Sheriff's Office in March of 1982.  He has served as a patrol deputy, shift sergeant, commander of the Detective Bureau, SWAT team, and commander of a multi-agency task force on Statewide gambling.  Capt. Sparkman attended Lakeland Community College, Ohio University and the University of Virginia.  A graduate of of the Police Executive leadership College, he most recently attended the University of Louisville's Chief of Police Small Agency Executive Training.
