Lake County Sheriff 's Office
by Sgt. Anthony Iliano
In 2007 the Townships have nine (9) new
residential developments that are being constructed or have submitted plans to
the Lake County Planning Commission. However, the population forecast will
decrease by 1,054 residents from 2006 to 2007. This is a direct result of the
Lake View Bluffs subdivision in Painesville Twp. decrease from a forecast of
4,600 residents in 2006 to 3,000 for 2007.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office did not
see an increase in patrol staffing for 2006. This Annual report will show the
present manpower staffing for each Township along with the United States
National Average for law enforcement agencies in the Midwest. This report will
also show the cost analysis for present manpower coverage, vs. using the
national average.
As of 2005, a National Average of
1.7 full-time law enforcement officers for every 1,000 inhabitants, were
employed law enforcement agencies within Midwest, with a population of 50,000 to
99,999, This statistic was obtained from the Federal Bureau of Investigation
Uniform Crime reports: Crime in the United States, released September 2006.
Deputy Cost Analysis using top rate salary for deputies with benefits is
$77,562, which was obtained through Human Resource Clerk Jackie Irwin. All
Population forecasts were obtained from the Lake County Planning Commission. It is interesting to note that Perry Township was the fasted growing region in Lake County identified between 1990 and 2000 at a level of 25.8%, followed closely by Concord Twp. at 22.9%, Leroy Twp., at 21%, and Painesville Twp. 13.76 %. No other city in the County is growing faster then the eastern townships. This population growth is consistent with the development patterns moving eastward across Lake County from the more urbanized communities in the western and central portions of the county.
