If you are a landowner experiencing erosion on your stream or river please contact the Lake County SWCD for technical assistance.  In many instances, the District can provide you with a solution to slow the erosion process along your property.  This may include in-stream engineering practices or upland management.  The District also discourages the use of hard armor in streams to remedy erosion as these practices are very costly, maintenance intensive, provide no habitat for stream organisms, will often cause erosion problems to shift downstream, and are typically unsightly (most people live near streams because we like to see them).  The practices that the District chooses are designed with natural materials and are chosen with an understanding of stream dynamics.  They look natural, and provide habitat.
